Finally I decided to fight the twisted highway 280 traffic and give them a try. It was well worth it. Having heard many personal accounts from friends and seeing the delectable photos posted on Twitter, I couldn't take it any more. It was time I allowed myself to get reeled in.
Atmosphere: When I walked in, the aroma of a medley of sea foods hit me in the face. It was busy, but not overly crowded and uncomfortable. They have televisions. YES!!
The decor gave the appearance as if I'd walked onto a dockside fish joint on the edge of the gulf. Very authentic for a seafood eatery. They have an open kitchen that is highly visible to everyone that is seated near.
What I had: a complimentary serving of two extremely moist cornbread squares with a side of Georgia peach infused butter. It was inhaled within seconds. Also had an appetizer of the Dixie Chicken Strips. These were crispy fried chicken strips marinated in sweet tea, lightly tossed in house made pepper jelly. For the entree, I had the Company Seafood Pasta- a plentiful mixture of gulf shrimp and plump crawfish tails smothered in a garlic cream sauce tossed with rotini pasta and creamy Parmesan cheese. Mmmmm!
The Staff: Easily identified by a variety of uniform shirts. Everyone that walked by my table was friendly.
Prices: The appetizers start just under 7 dollars, the soups and salads are reasonably priced and the entrees run from about $13.99 and up.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Dixie Fish Company a 9.
